Full specs released for the Czech brand's Focus rival

Skoda have announced full details for their new hatch, with the Fabia's big brother getting high-spec standard equipment with three trims and engines across the range.

Set to arrive in the UK this summer, the Scala will be powered by two petrol units and a diesel option at launch. There are two 1.0-litre TSI units that have outputs of 95 and 115bhp, and there is also a 1.5-litre TSI with a 150bhp. The diesel option is a 1.6-litre TDI that matches the mid petrol unit for power. In terms of transmission options, there five or six-speed manual 'boxes throughout the range, with an optional seven-notch automatic on offer for all but the entry powertrain at launch.

Sat on a wheelbase that, for its class, is rather long, the Scala is set to offer copious head and leg room, and an impressive boot space of 467-litre expanding to 1,410-litre with the rear seats folded down – that's a sector best.

The three trim levels are familiar from elsewhere in the Skoda family – S, SE and SE L. Each of these offer alloy wheels, air-con and LED headlights. On S models the alloys are 16", and the interior spec includes a leather steering wheel, the same treatment is afforded to the gear gaiter and handbrake handle. Digital radio is also included from the outset, front and rear electric windows and Skoda's Swing entertainment system with a 6.5" screen. Safety features to be included in the S package are front assist, lane assist, speed limiter and a proactive emergency call services. Scala S models will hit the market shortly after the other two.

Adding an E to the trim means that the hatch also comes with cruise control, rear parking sensors, an upgraded 8" Bolero touchscreen, plus an integrated umbrella. Sitting at the top of the range, the SE models is kitted out with Skoda's new Amundsen infotainment system with a 9.2" glass touchscreen. It also features the digital cockpit, climate control air-con and keyless entry with stop/start abilities. It also rides on bigger 17" alloys, full LED lights at the rear and dynamic indicators, plus privacy glass on the rear windows. Seating is also finished in silver microsuede and the dashboard features chrome detailing that also extends to the door panels and the gear stick and handbrake lever.

Prices for the range start at £16,595 with S models, whilst SE and SE L models cost £18,580 and £20,380 respectively. Stay tuned for more details on specific launch dates and performance and economy figures.
