Skoda Launches CITIGOe iV
It's the first model in the electric sub-brand
The CITIGOe iV is the first all-electric production vehicle in Skoda's history and it will be powered by a 61-kW electric motor. It's 36.8-kWh battery with 265km in the locker, aka 164-miles, and production will begin in the second half of 2019.
To differentiate the new model from it's non-iV siblings its front grille has is finished in body colour paint, whilst the indicators, fog lights and daytime running lights have been worked into a revised front bumper.
Like the Citigo on which it's based, the all-electric version has room for four passengers and the luggage capacities remain nigh on unchanged (with the seats down the iV boot is 28-litres less and 1 short with them up).
The motors are fairly potent, posing 155lbf.ft and can bolt from 0-62mph in 12.5-seconds, whilst it's top speed is 81mph. When flat, the battery can recharge to 80% in an hour. This is only possible when using a Combined Charging System cable and a 40-kW DC fast charger. Using a 7.2-kW AC wall box, the same amount of juice takes four hours and eight minutes, or 12 hours and 37 minutes with a 2.3-kW home charging station. Both the Combined Charging System and the required cable come as standard with the top-spec Style trim.
Only available as a five-door model, the entry Ambition spec comes with 14" steel wheels as standard, with Indus wheel trims. Two-tone Scorpius 16" numbers adorn the Style models, and are optional extras on Ambition, and are also available in a solid silver hue. Four paint colours are available as standard, with choices of Candy White, Tornado Red, Sunflower Yellow and Kiwi Green. Metallic options consist of Deep Pearlescent Black, Crystal Blue and Tungsten Silver.
The interior of the brand's first all-electric model has also been revised, with the instrument – black in Ambition models and silver in Style – has been redesigned. You get electric front windows, climate control and remote central locking as standard. There's also Swing II radio and a mobile docking station. From an integrated mobile app, it is possible to access the battery or air conditioning remotely. Safety features as standard include Lane Assist, front airbags as well as airbags for the head and thorax.
Style trim adds ambient dashboard lighting, electronically adjusted and heated wing mirrors as well as the Leather Detailing package. This includes a leather steering wheel, gear stick and handbrake lever. The optional Comfort package offer heated front seats, rear parking sensors, four more speakers and there is also a Winter package which adds a heat-insulated windscreen, plus rain and light sensors as well as heated seats, too. Cruise control can be added, as can tinted rear and side windows and an adjustable boot floor.
Details on pricing or when the CITIGOe iV will go on sale have not yet been confirmed, but they can be expected later this year.
